Street Closures Begin Thursday for Chicago Marathon

OEMC has announced street closures for the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, with restrictions starting on September 24 and continuing through October 12 to accommodate over 55,000 runners from more than 130 countries. The marathon begins at Grant Park Sunday morning, while the Abbott Chicago 5K is scheduled for Saturday in a route running west along major avenues like Harrison Street and Wacker Drive before ending at Adams Street. Parking restrictions are enforced starting Saturday at 1 a.m., with specific street closures listed between early morning hours on both days to ensure safe passage through Grant Park and surrounding neighborhoods.
