LAPD: Two killed in shooting near CSUN campus
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that two people died after a shooting occurred at an Artist Lounge party on the night of October 2, 2026. The incident took place within minutes of officers responding to reports of a loud gathering at the venue located just steps away from California State University, Northridge's campus in Northridge.
Police stated that gunfire erupted inside the event space after they ordered the party organizers to disperse. Witnesses reported seeing a suspect pull a gun and fire multiple times before turning around again. The victims were identified by police as an 18-year-old Black man and a 19-year-old Hispanic woman, both of whom received immediate medical attention but succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect, who remains at large according to authorities on Sunday morning. While investigators have determined that approximately 100 people were present during the event, no motive has been established yet.
