Former 'American Idol' Contestant Faces Trial for Wife's Murder

Caleb Flynn, a former contestant on ABC's singing competition who appeared in the 2013 season, is currently standing trial in Ohio charged with murdering his wife of nearly 16 years. Investigators allege that Flynn fatally shot Ashley Flynn and staged the crime scene to make it appear she was killed by an intruder while their two daughters slept nearby. During a February 911 call reported as evidence, Flynn claimed someone broke into his home and shot his wife before police arrived and found no intruders; he also admitted possessing multiple firearms in the house. Prosecutors have introduced over 100,000 text messages between Flynn and his mistress during opening arguments that allegedly reveal a desire to kill his wife. Flynn has pleaded not guilty to charges including aggravated murder, tampering with evidence, and witness intimidation as jurors prepare for jury selection on Thursday.
