10K

A significant fall storm swept through Western Washington on the evening of November 7, 2026, triggering widespread power outages and severe weather conditions. The National Weather Service reported peak wind gusts reaching up to 69 mph in Hoquiam, with sustained winds between 43 and 50 mph across much of the region. These strong winds caused trees to fall on roads and bridges, leading officials to close several routes including I-5 near Lewis County, the Hood Canal Bridge in Kitsap County, and warning travelers about safety at the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

At least 83,000 customers lost power as a result of the storm. Seattle City Light reported outages affecting over 46,000 residents across West Seattle, South Seattle, North Seattle, and surrounding areas through 226 different locations by Saturday evening. Puget Sound Energy saw disruptions impacting more than 27,000 customers at 226 sites throughout the region, including Bainbridge Island, Vashon Island, Bellevue, and Eastside communities.

Additionally, Clallam County PUD recorded another 7,000 outages along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, while Grays Harbor County PUD reported over 3,000 additional disruptions. Authorities urged residents to prepare for potential power loss overnight due to tree limbs being ripped down by high winds and advised motorists to avoid driving in hazardous conditions.
