Bryson Fire Ignites Near Calamigos Ranch in Malibu

A brush fire known as the Bryson Fire erupted Thursday afternoon near Encinal Canyon Road and Mulholland Highway north of Malibu, prompting evacuation orders for residents. Powerful Santa Ana winds combined with dangerously dry conditions caused the blaze to grow rapidly from one acre within minutes to approximately 35 acres by early evening. Officials issued mandatory leave notices for communities south in Zuma and Trancas Canyons while warnings were sent toward Point Dume as firefighting crews worked through difficult terrain near private estates.
