Brysen Wright Chooses Miami Over Texas Longhorns
Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is actively recruiting top prospects for the 2028 class after losing Easton Royal to the Class of 2027. The program missed out on No. 1-ranked receiver Brysen Wright, who chose Miami Hurricanes over Texas and other finalists including Florida. Wright stands at 6-3 and was rated as the No. 1 overall prospect for his cycle by On3.com.
Miami is expected to announce Wright's commitment on Thursday, with sources indicating they are in a strong position to secure him. If he joins Miami's Class of 2027 instead of staying in the 2028 class, he would add five-star talent alongside existing recruits like Malachi Toney and Nick Lennear.
Texas is currently pursuing other top targets such as Peyton Smith, a No. 14-ranked receiver from Texas who considers Austin a dream school, and Damarion Mays, the No. 93 overall prospect heavily pursued by in-state rivals.
