Angela Bassett's Yale Theater Group Revives After Pandemic

The Heritage Production Company, the first Black student theater group at Yale University to operate during its existence, has returned after a pause caused by the pandemic. Founded in 1979 and originally established as the Heritage Theater Ensemble by Angela Bassett '80 DRA '83, the organization previously produced works such as "Filling Basins" regarding the Atlanta Washerwomen Strike of 1881 and "Topdog/Underdog," which explored themes of justice and masculinity. The group was dissolved during the pandemic but has been revived in August by Slater Vance '28 alongside co-president Chin Onwu, with Bassett serving as a founding member.
