James Madison University has been accepted for membership in the American Conference following a unanimous vote by its board of visitors and commissioners after completing extensive due diligence on six key factors, including academic alignment, competitive strength, financial sustainability, brand value, fan engagement, and geographic fit. The institution will join as a full league member no later than July 1, 2028, bringing proven national recognition and strong performance across Virginia, Washington D.C., and the Mid-Atlantic region to the conference's roster.
