FTC Approves Automatic Amazon Prime Refunds Up To $200

The Federal Trade Commission announced that millions of eligible American consumers will begin receiving automatic refunds starting October 1 under a revised version of the historic September 2025 settlement. The FTC and Amazon agreed to accelerate payments, raising the maximum total refund cap from $51 to $200 per qualifying customer while eliminating the need for manual claim forms. Under the new terms, eligible subscribers must be US-based members who enrolled in Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, attempted cancellation unsuccessfully, or used no more than twenty benefits within a single twelve-month period. As of September 2026, Amazon has already distributed over $845 million in redress payments under the original agreement which also included a separate civil penalty.
