Alabama Faces Mississippi State QB Showdown

No. 7 Alabama travels to No. 16 Mississippi State on Saturday for a matchup featuring top quarterbacks Keelon Russell and Kamario Taylor in Week 5 of the college football season. The rivalry, which dates back to the 19th century with an all-time record favoring Alabama at 86-18-3, is highlighted by two emerging stars who arrived via different high school paths before meeting on this stage. Russell flipped his original commitment from SMU after being recruited by former Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr., while Taylor has become a local hero in Starkville despite having only two career starts prior to the season's start. Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby praised Russell as incredibly accurate and talented, noting that Alabama possesses multiple weapons on offense.
