Police Arrest Smarter Scammer Who Defrauded Millions from Clean Air Program

Białystok police arrested a 47-year-old man who defrauded the government out of $1.3 million in Clean Air program grants over two years by impersonating property owners across nine regions, including Podlaskie Voivodeship. The suspect searched online for data to fabricate documents and deposit funds into accounts under his own name before withdrawing cash at bank machines overnight. Authorities seized laptops, forged papers, seals, and large amounts of cash during an arrest in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki after he was caught attempting a withdrawal there. Prosecutors filed 12 charges including forgery and fraud while the court ordered two months of pre-trial detention, with up to eight years imprisonment possible for his actions.
