Kyiv Mayor Witalij Kliczko Explains Why His Children Do Not Fight in Ukraine
Witalij Kliczko was asked why his children do not fight on the front line, responding that they were born and studied outside of Ukraine. The former boxer explained to reporters that he himself lived abroad but returned because "my roots are here," while noting his three adult children—two sons and a daughter—were raised in the United States or Europe.
When pressed about why politicians' children generally do not serve, Kliczko stated, "What can I tell you?" He added that he knows many businessmen whose offspring fight on the first line as well as those who do not. The Kyiv mayor emphasized that one cannot make generalizations and affirmed his responsibility only for himself and his family.
Kliczko also remarked that to stop a war, "you have to send decision-makers' children to the front," identifying Vladimir Putin as the sole person capable of ending it.
