2K

Sister Anastazja Pustelnik passed away early Sunday morning in her eightieth year. She was the most famous chef in Poland and author of best-selling cookbooks published by WAM, which sold over four million copies.

Born Krystyna Pustelnik in November 1950 on the Podkarpacie region, she faced a difficult childhood marked by family tragedies before entering religious life. Her culinary passion began when she prepared meals for disabled children and later served food at Krakow Jesuit communities. She started publishing her recipes with "103 Siostry Anastazji's Cakes" in 2001.

Her legacy includes a collection of seventeen cookbooks featuring simple, traditional ingredients like fresh milk from cows and eggs from happy hens. Foreign media compared her to British celebrity chef Nigella Lawson. In 2019, she received the Special Phoenix Award for contributing to Polish family culinary education. She lived in a monastery on Krakow's Wola Justowska street during her final eight years.

The Order of Daughters of Divine Love announced her death via social media.
