Miedwiediew Warns Armenia of Becoming 'Second Ukraine'

2K

Russian politician Dmitry Medvedev warned Armenian leaders in an interview with Iran's state broadcaster that their current policy will lead to negative consequences. He stated the worst outcome for Armenia would be its transformation into a "second Ukraine." The comments were made following Armenia's parliament approving legislation in March 2025 to begin accession negotiations with the European Union, a move Russia opposes as incompatible with membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. Medvedev accused unnamed third countries of attempting to destabilize the South Caucasus by inciting conflicts that could divide Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. He cited Georgia's failed attempt to join NATO as an example of such instability leading to conflict without resulting in alliance membership.
