Jerusalem Resident Arrested for Requesting Religious Approval to Kill Attorney General
A Jerusalem resident has been detained on suspicion of requesting Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef’s approval to issue a 'Din Rofe' (Law of the Pursuer), which could justify the murder of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miya'ara. The suspect, 36 years old, sent a note to Rabbi Yosef stating he was willing to kill the attorney general if he received approval from three senior religious elders. Rabbi Yosef warned authorities after receiving the note, which included a photo of the suspect and a plea to the rabbi, claiming that the suspect was planning harm against the attorney general. The Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, expressed concern and requested immediate action from security agencies to prevent potential violence. The police confirmed the arrest and announced the suspect would be brought for a court hearing to extend his detention. The Director General of the Ministry of Religious Services urgently contacted the police chief about the threat, emphasizing the seriousness of the case. The Movement for Quality Government accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yariv Levin of inciting violence against the legal system, linking their rhetoric to the threats. The investigation was initiated following a report of the suspect’s intent, and authorities are actively working to prevent possible harm.
