Teacher Accused of Sexual Relations with Students Denies Intentional Harm, Claims One-Time Error

A 43-year-old English teacher from Petah Tikva was dismissed after being found guilty of having sexual relations with two 17-year-old students, with a third student witnessing the events. The teacher, who apologized and stated the incident was a one-time mistake, emphasized that the students involved were not her own. She took full responsibility and expressed regret, stating she did not want to harm the families involved. The teacher admitted to her actions as part of a plea agreement, resulting in immediate termination, permanent disqualification from the Ministry of Education, an eight-year ban from working with children or youth, and a three-year ban from public service. Earlier reports indicated that a criminal investigation against her was opened months prior but was closed due to lack of evidence. The investigation revealed that her inappropriate interactions with the students lasted four months, beginning in September last year and ending in early January. She engaged in inappropriate conversations, sent explicit content via social media, and smoked with students on school premises. One student described the situation as widely known at the school. The teacher also admitted to having sexual relations with the students at her private residence, actions deemed highly inappropriate for a public school employee. The teacher, employed by the Ministry of Education for nine years, denied being the students' teacher and claimed her actions were a mistake. Her lawyer stated that the criminal case was dismissed due to lack of evidence, and the incident was considered a bizarre event by the parents of one of the students. The case has sparked significant controversy and discussions about misconduct in educational institutions.
