Tokayev Signs Agreements on Korean AI Tech and Methane Monitoring

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev advanced Kazakhstan's integration with South Korea by signing two key agreements focused on artificial intelligence, urban development, and environmental monitoring. During a state visit to Seoul, the President met with Prime Minister Han Seong-sook to discuss transforming Alatau City into an international platform for Korean technologies and AI initiatives. The collaboration involves major partners like KIND, KAIST, and the Korea Airports Corporation to develop smart infrastructure, digital modeling, urban air mobility systems using drones and air taxis, and research facilities.

Simultaneously, Kazakhstan's Qazaqstan Gharysh Sapary signed a deal with South Korea's Nara Space Technology. This partnership will supply satellite data from constellations including GYEONGGISat-2A, GYEONGGISat-2B, and NarSha to monitor methane emissions across the country. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development confirmed that this data supports government agencies and industrial sectors in tracking oil and gas facilities for measurement, reporting, and verification purposes.

The cooperation framework was further strengthened through meetings between Kazakhstan's Aerospace Committee and Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA), which addressed current bilateral prospects and future areas of joint work. These initiatives underscore a strategic push toward modernizing urban mobility and enhancing environmental oversight through advanced space technology.
