Actress Daisy Edgar-Jones has been cast as the rational elder sister Elinor in a new adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, directed by Georgia Oakley. Speaking to the BBC, she stated that her personal life mirrors her character's tendency to bury emotions when dealing with love, though she noted it was joyful for both herself and the role to learn to embrace a wilder side. Best known for starring in Normal People alongside Paul Mescal, Edgar-Jones is taking on this lead opposite George MacKay as Marianne. The production aims to remain true to Austen's original novel rather than making contemporary updates, set between Sussex, Devon, and London with natural light used prominently during filming.
