PlayStation Plus to Remove 8 Games in February 2026 Amid Shift Away from PS4 Titles

PlayStation Plus has confirmed it will remove eight games from its Game Catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers in February 2026. The upcoming lineup of new games includes popular titles such as Resident Evil Village, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game. However, these will be overshadowed by notable departures, including WWE 2K25, Cult of the Lamb, Rez Infinite, and notably New World: Aeternum, an Amazon-developed MMORPG that is set to be shut down in January 2027 and was recently delisted from all digital storefronts, making PS Plus the only way for new players to access it before its end-of-service. The exact new games joining PS Plus in February 2026 are yet to be announced, with Sony planning to reveal them next week. The list of departing games is expected to be finalized by February 17, 2026, coinciding with the update of the next lineup. The removals reflect Sony’s ongoing shift in focus away from PS4 titles, as announced in January 2025, with most new releases now prioritizing PS5 versions. This change means that future PS Plus updates will feature fewer PS4 games, although titles with both PS4 and PS5 versions will still be included. Industry discussions highlight that most AAA games are now PS5 only, though many indie and smaller-scale titles continue to support PS4, and the transition away from last-gen consoles is progressing, with support for PS4 gradually diminishing.
