Obsidian Entertainment revealed Grounded 2 at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2025, showcasing the sequel to its popular survival game where players are shrunk to the size of ants. The trailer depicts a storyline involving an explosion at Brookhollow Park, marking the second anniversary of the teenagers' shrinking incident, with the game set in a new environment following the disappearance of a scientist, a robot, and the four teenagers. Grounded 2 will be available in early access on July 29, 2025, on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (Steam and Xbox PC), Xbox Cloud, and will be included on day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The original game, developed by a small team, was a significant success, reaching over 15 million players by December 2022, and was later released on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch as part of Microsoft's multiplatform strategy. The game continues Obsidian's strong year, which also saw the launch of the fantasy RPG Avowed in February and the upcoming release of The Outer Worlds 2 on October 29, 2025.
