Gladbach Loan Argentinian Top Talent Sarco from Leverkusen for Offensive Boost
Borussia Mönchengladbach has announced the loan of 20-year-old Argentinian striker Alejo Sarco from Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season. Sarco, who joined Leverkusen in January 2025 from Velez Sarsfield, has yet to establish himself in the Bundesliga, with only three appearances and no goals so far this season. The move aims to add speed and depth to Gladbach's attacking options, addressing the team's need for more offensive dynamism. Sarco impressed during the U20 World Cup with four goals, and Leverkusen has no buy option in the loan deal, indicating their interest in his development. Gladbach's manager Rouven Schröder emphasized the importance of speed for their counter-attack game, and Sarco's agility and work ethic have been praised by Leverkusen's coach Kasper Hjulmand. The transfer is also part of Gladbach's broader strategy to strengthen their attack amid injuries to key players like Tim Kleindienst, Robin Hack, and Nathan Ngoumou. The club is also considering selling other offensive players to make room for Sarco, who is expected to compete with other strikers such as Haris Tabakovic, Franck Honorat, and Shuto Machino. Sarco's market value is estimated at two million euros, and he could debut as soon as the upcoming match against VfB Stuttgart.
