Police Capture Escaped Puma in Sokolov Region After 24-Hour Chase

The police in the Sokolov region successfully captured an American puma that had escaped from a private enclosure near Josefov. The escape occurred on June 11, and despite multiple attempts, the animal resisted several doses of sedative. The pursuit involved dozens of police officers, rescue workers, veterinarians, and specialized equipment such as thermal imaging vehicles. The puma was located in the Hřebeny area and was sedated after multiple injections, finally falling asleep around 7 PM on the second day. It was then transported back to its owner, who is currently resolving legal issues related to the animal's registration and permits. The owner, who previously walked the puma publicly, does not have the necessary registration for its breeding, which may result in fines. The animal, approximately three years old and weighing between 21 and 80 kilograms, did not cause any injuries or property damage during its escape. The police released drone footage of the rescue, highlighting the extensive effort involved in the operation.
