Hong Kong Actor Benz Hui in Critical Condition, Celebrities Visit in Support

Hong Kong veteran actor Benz Hui, 76, is reportedly hospitalized in critical condition in Hong Kong, with close to 20 celebrity friends visiting him. Hui, who also holds Singapore permanent residency, has had health concerns since June when he experienced breathing difficulties during a visit to Guangzhou. Prominent visitors include TV stars Maria Luisa Leitao, Michael Miu, Jaime Chik, Edwin Siu, Priscilla Wong, Raymond Wong, Bosco Wong, Dayo Wong, Au Yeung Tsan Wah, and Mak Cheung Ching, as well as TVB producers Jazz Boon and Lam Chi Wah. Hui moved to Hong Kong in 1958, joined TVB’s first training program in 1972, and gained fame for roles in series like 'Line Walker.' He has reduced acting commitments in recent years and moved to Singapore for semi-retirement. Hui’s daughter Charmaine Hui, married to Singaporean Shane Sim, recently held wedding ceremonies in Hong Kong and Singapore. Hui’s last public appearance was at the Mid-Autumn Festival in October, appearing relaxed and in good spirits. Actress Charmaine Sheh, who shares a close bond with Hui, expressed concern and plans to visit him soon. Celebrities and friends are rallying around Hui during this difficult time, and his condition remains critical.
